ST. JOHN LUTHERAN CHURCH FAMILY PICTURES

2025 Children's Christmas Program

The children, Pastor and his family presented a Christmas program after church on December 14th based on the sweet and humble Christmas carol that tells the Nativity story from a unique perspective - hat of the animals present at Jesus birth. Thanks to the LYF youth who helped out with the readings, to Gayle Rector and Cristina Nolan planning and helping the children. Baby Gregory was a perfect Baby Jesus in the manger!

LWML Festival of Trees Entry

The LWML had a tree at the Denver Community Festival of trees.  Thanks to the volunteers who helped decorate the tree and dismantle it! The red birds that adorned the tree and the barn beneath it were shared by the Jaschens. Thanks for sharing!  The birdseed balls that were made for it are in the Narthex.  Help yourself to them and hang them out for our feathered friends in your neighborhood!

Kids of the Kingdom - November 12, 2025

We started the day with a "Turkey Feather" race with the kids using real turkey feathers to push balls up and down the floor.  Next, we worked on learning the verse of the day - the kids did a great job learning John 1:1 - "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God."  We talked about how Jesus is "the Word", was there at the beginning of the world, was with God and IS God.

During snack time, we watched a video: "God's Story-Jesus" Then it was on to the skit put on by Eli Bierstedt and Tripp Matthias - the continuing story of 2 kids working through an escape room.  A short object lesson followed where the kids looked at several optical illusion illustrations where depending on how you look at it, you might see one of two things - they're both there, it just depends on how you look it it!  Just as the optical illusions are always made of two images at the same time, Jesus is always fully human and fully divine at the same time.  Pastor Schlie then joined us for today's lesson talking about how the Bible shows us that Jesus is the Son of God and is the only person to be fully God and fully human.

We finished our time together with the kids packing their shoeboxes, decorating the inside lid, writing a letter to the child receiving the box and making a Thanksgiving favor for Denver Sunset Home residents.  Thanks to the Confirmation Class who came down to help the kids! Thanks to all our faithful volunteers and everyone who supported us financially to help purchase items for the boxes and cover shipping costs.
