Ladies Who Lutheran - May 7th

A group of 18 ladies enjoyed a fun evening of fellowship with a "quilting" theme. We started the evening with refreshments served on old fashioned glass snacks and a devotion that used a example of a gal who, knowing nothing about sewing or quilting, attempted to make her mother-in-law (an experienced quilter) a quilt. She shared how her gracious mother-in-law pointed out all the stitches she got right! We are God’s handiwork. God intricately made each one of us and formed us in our mother’s womb (Psalm 139:13). We may not feel like the prettiest quilt, we may have some imperfections, but God has created us for good things! Teri Huhman shared with the group several quilts that were made by her mother and grandmothers. We then spent some time with Carol Jaschen leading some ladies in tying a quilt and a few others at another table tying a fleece blanket that will be delivered to Orphan Grain Train on May 12th.

Kids of the Kingdom - May 6th

The Holy Spirit is the third Person of the Trinity. Many people don't understand who He is. But Jesus told his disciples all about the Holy Spirit who would come to comfort them and help them live for God. Today we talked with the kids about the Holy Spirit, the third person of the Trinity and how, who he is and how they can know he is with them.  We started the afternoon by working on our memory verse from Psalm 143:10 “Teach me to do your will, for you are my God!  Let your good Spirit lead me on level ground!

Our game today was a little “Trust” obstacle course where they took turns being the leader and the blindfolded led.  Then it was time for snacks and a video. Two volunteers acted out the skit of the day.  In our object lesson, we attempted to make silly putty from 3 ingredients and we talked about how though there were 3 ingredients in the putty and they’re all in there, you can’t see any one of them, they’re there, just like the Holy Spirit can be in us even though we can’t se him.  Pastor then talked with the kids about the Holy Spirit.  We finished up with a couple of crafts making a “Holy Spirit” pinwheel and a special surprise for moms.

Kids of the Kingdom - April 8th

How could Jesus really die and rise to life again? The only way this is possible is if Jesus is who he claimed to be, the Son of God. Jesus is the Son of God and he conquered sin and death, so that we could live for Him and with Him forever. This was the topic of our pre-Easter Kids of the Kingdom. Chilly outside but what a lot of energy at Kids of the Kingdom today! We started with an egg hunt outside, dividing into 3 teams to find the eggs containing words to our verse of the day. Then it is was on to an egg relay! Snacks included making a fruit kabob of strawberries, grapes & bananas, a yogurt parfait, cookie & juice. During snack time we watched a video about Jesus’ death & resurrection. The kids had a great time either the object lesson today taking an egg then working together as a team my of 2-3 to use materials to protect it for the egg drop. They all did a fantastic job with all of them surviving! Pastor came down for our lesson, talking about Jesus death & resurrection & how we can know He’s alive. We wrapped up the afternoon painting paper mache eggs and an Easter cross painting.
